AIE has conducted several clinical studies; most recently a retrospective clinical pilot study utilizing its proprietary image enhancement technology in complement with digital mammography. Six physicians from four hospitals in the Boston area participated in the clinical study hosted at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. The study results concluded that the AIE technology is a valuable complement to digital mammography for improving the conspicuity and detail of subtle breast lesions. The clinical study radiologists reported that the AIE software allowed them to reach an opinion with more confidence in a significantly large percentage of the cases in the study. AIE received 510K regulatory clearance from the FDA for its digital mammography image enhancement product in September, 2006.
